Common Blogging Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Common blogging mistakes are everywhere, In this age of Information Technology, we are overloaded with information. We are bombarded with cheap information whether we need it or not. You are just one click away from lots of ideas, blogs, articles and news stories.
However, most bloggers are providing information by making many mistakes. These mistakes are avoidable and with little effort they can be eliminated altogether. This is essential for building trust of your audience in your blog posts. Here are few tips to avoid common mistakes in blogging: and here is how to make your business blog viral
MISTAKE #1: YOU WRITE COMPLEX
Most blogger overlook the beauty of simplicity. They think working on complex topics or using complex words will prove their intelligence or sophistication to their audience.
That is not true.
There is beauty in simplicity. If you are sophisticated in your blogging passion, you can use simple metaphors to describe mere abstract ideas. You have to appreciate the time of your reader. As we above said, today’s reader has so many ways to gain information. They will surely neglect a post which is complex to understand.
You have to work on how to simplify your post and the underlying message. Help your readers to process the post in less time.
MISTAKE #2: YOU PUBLISH ON DAILY BASIS
Your readers should be looking forward for your post. You should suppress the urge to post every day. You are going to waste readers’ time and eventually lose their interest with this habit. You have to add value to your posts.
When you find something new and interesting to communicate with your readers, then write. Visitors like to read inspirational posts rather than posts written from recycled content.
MISTAKE #3: YOUR POSTS ARE ONLY FOR SEO
For years, bloggers have done this mistake. Those blogs and websites are ranked high by search engines which provide content according to their users’ needs. No one is saying you should discard the SEO focused content.
It is still needed.
But you have to write with users’ needs in your mind. A reader is not willing to waste his time on content which is only written for crawling robots. First you have to write for your reader, than you can optimize it for search engines.
MISTAKE #4: YOU WRITE FOR WORD COUNT
Again this mistake is a habit of many old and new bloggers. You are trying to write a blog post and word count is stuck on 500. But you are wondering, what you can add in this post.
Some blogging and SEO experts have promoted the idea that writing long pieces of content is better and it helps in SEO.
This myth has no solid grounds.
A blogger should write as much content which is enough for communicating that specific message. Not more than that.
MISTAKE #5: YOUR POSTS ARE NOT IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Using too much jargon, technical language or bragging about your products or skills is not good. It will negatively impact the readability of your content.
Jargons and technical language will require your reader to understand the meaning of the used word. Bragging will not help either as it does not provide any valuable information.
Cutting unnecessary words and sentences from your post will help your readers. Simpler words are liked by the average reader who does not have expert knowledge. Simply structure your post for a 12 year old kid.
MISTAKE #6: YOUR POSTS ARE ABOUT YOURSELF
Most bloggers are self-indulgent and try to boast their own stories and achievements. But the truth is your readers are not interested in such posts.
Your job is to inspire and guide your readers. If your experiences will help your readers to become happier and more productive, then you can add them.
While writing your next post, avoid these mistakes and you will surely increase readability of your post.
