Dell publishes concepts for the workplace of the future in an official blog post. In addition to a notebook with two screens and a digital notepad, the vision of a futuristic office is also presented.
The US manufacturer Dell presented the new “Ori” and “Duet” concepts at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). While “Duet” connects two 13.4 “displays via a hinge,” Ori “includes a tablet with a foldable 13” display. At the beginning of next year, taking place CES 2021, Dell seems to come up again with similar concept products under the title “The Future of Work Reimagined”.
In a recent blog post, the US company presents a kind of combination of the “Ori” and “Duet” concepts. Two 13.4 inch displays could merge into one large – and foldable – screen. Dell also illustrates the still purely fictional projects in the form of two videos, which can be found in the blog post mentioned above.
More display area seems to be the main issue. The manufacturer is also working on implementing this idea with regard to classic notebooks. The first concept drawings show, for example, a device with an initially seemingly conventional design. However, there is another display behind the screen, which can be pulled out if desired and positioned on a rail next to the first one.
In the video, these drawings were presented on another, still fictional product. This is a kind of digital notepad which, with its extremely thin shape and without any ports, is supposed to be connected to a PC as a companion device. The tablet provides additional display space and functions as a digital whiteboard.
In a second video, Dell shows how one imagines the office of the future. Since a large part of the work was relocated to the home office in this scenario, there are so-called workstations instead of permanently assigned workstations. Augmented Reality (AR) makes it possible for such a station to automatically adjust the desk and monitor the preferences of the respective user.
