Details about the 2025 iPhone models are leaking out

In less than two months, Apple will be introducing new smartphones, which means that the iPhone 16 variants are ready and also that the development of the successors has begun. The leak machine is not standing still either, because there are new details about the iPhone 17.

The iPhone 17 is (long) in the works

There have been speculations and rumors about the next (and next) iPhone models for weeks and months, so there is still plenty of time until the release in September 2025. In Cupertino, work on the iPhone 17 has been going on for a while, because after all, contracts with suppliers and technology partners have to be concluded for the long term.

This is also the reason why leaks should not be dismissed as completely unbelievable at this point in time. The well-known and reliable leaker Ice Universe is currently writing in an article on Twitter (via 9to5Mac) that Apple is preparing four models for next year. The insider confirms that the company from Cupertino, California, will abandon the “Plus” variant and instead launch a new device called “Slim”. Ice Universe also provides display sizes and targeted prices.

  • iPhone 17: 6.27-inch display ($799)
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 6.27-inch display ($1099)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.86-inch display ($1199)
  • iPhone 17 Slim: 6.65-inch display ($1,299)

For the first time, all iPhone models will feature an LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) display. This means that all Apple smartphones from 2025 will offer the display called ProMotion, which means variable refresh rates of up to 120 Hz – until now this technology was reserved for the Pro iPhones. The Slim model mentioned above will be Apple’s most expensive smartphone to date.

It could have an A19 chip, an aluminum case and eight GB of RAM, the same goes for the regular iPhone 17. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, on the other hand, will offer an A19 Pro chip and 12 GB of RAM. It is of course a little unclear why the Slim could cost so much (if the information is correct) when the specifications are worse. In any case, it seems clear that the Slim will offer a new, particularly thin design.
