Google confirmed that more apps would be able to better manage storage in the Android 11 update coming soon. Google recently sent an email where it informed developers to write back to the company with reason to why their app or apps request broad storage access. Developers would have enough time till May 5th to respond.
Moreover, developers who need storage access will need to get on board with Google, or their apps are likely to be pulled from the Google Play Store.
Currently, Google doesn’t allow developers to access the “All Files Access” permission, the storage access permission. This permission is required for those apps really needing to target Android 11. If permitted, apps will have access to all data stored on or externally to a device.
To access storage, developers must reply with a Declaration Form for gaining access to the permission will go live by May 5th, as informed.
