Digital Slaves: Telegram Boss Criticizes Apple Users

This week the Epic Games court case against Apple enters the final sprint, including Tim Cook. In this context, Telegram founder and boss Pavel Durov has now also spoken out. And this hardly left a good hair with Apple and iPhone or iOS.

The technology world is currently looking forward to the Epic versus Apple case, and Durov also commented on it. The 36-year-old shared a recent article in the New York Times on a public Telegram channel that deals with the Californian group’s business relationships with China and criticizes that Apple likes to turn a blind eye when it comes to profit to be weighed against surveillance and censorship.

In his comments highlighted by Android Central, he described the iPhone as “medieval” and criticized Apple’s ingratiation towards the Chinese Communist Party. “Apple is very efficient at pursuing its business model, which is based on selling overpriced, obsolete hardware to customers who are tied to their ecosystem,” wrote Durov.

The Telegram boss continues: “Every time I have to use an iPhone to test our iOS app, I feel thrown back into the Middle Ages. The 60Hz displays of the iPhone cannot match the 120Hz displays of modern Android devices, that support much smoother animations, keep up. “

Users Are Digital Slaves Of Apple

According to Durov, those hardware limitations, or “clunkier devices or obsolete hardware,” aren’t even the worst. Rather, according to Durov, users turned themselves into “Apple’s digital slaves“. Because you are only allowed to use apps that can be installed via the Apple App Store, for native backup of data only the Apple iCloud can be used, said Durov.

Finally, Durov fired a political broadside: “It’s no wonder Apple’s totalitarian approach is so valued by the Chinese Communist Party, which – thanks to Apple – now has complete control over the apps and data of all its citizens who access iPhones are dependent. “
