The narrative horror adventure Directive 8020 is now available, which confronts players with a dangerous alien life form on an alien planet. At the start, developer Supermassive Games is showing the official launch trailer.
Directive 8020 is the first game in the second season of the Dark Pictures anthology, making it the fifth entry in the series. The new setting is no longer Earth, but the distant planet Tau Ceti f. This was chosen by humanity as a possible refuge because the Earth is dying.
However, when the crew of a colony ship crashes on the planet, they are soon pursued by a dangerous organism that can take on the appearance of its victims – and so sows paranoia among the team members. It is unclear who is still human and has already been taken over by the shapeshifter, and wrong decisions could endanger not only the mission, but the future of all humanity.
The new game from the Until Dawn studio once again relies on a cinematic presentation with branching storylines and decisions that can significantly influence the further course of the story. What’s new for the first time is the (optional) turning point mechanic: This allows events to be rewound and decisions or mistakes to be corrected. Directive 8020 is available now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you don’t want to scare yourself alone, you can also play through the campaign in local couch co-op. Online multiplayer will soon be available on all platforms via a free patch.
