Due to concerns about US sanctions, Samsung is not selling outdated chip-making machinery

The South Korean conglomerate Samsung is known as one of the biggest semiconductor manufacturers in the world. The chip-making equipment is continuously upgraded. However, given the fear of US sanctions, Samsung and SK Hynix have stopped the sales of their older equipment.

Chip manufacturers began storing their older equipment because of fear of retaliation from the US after the US banned the export of chip-making equipment manufactured by US-based companies or uses technologies created by US-based companies.

According to reports, some Chinese buyers are selling chip-making equipment to Russia. It can cause some major problems for Samsung. Since the development of the 7nm chip by SMIC for Huawei, the US government is putting in efforts to tighten the sanctions on chip equipment. Chinese companies are among the largest purchasers of such equipment, and Samsung and SK Hynix are excellent sources for purchasing older equipment because they often upgrade to newer models.

Some reports suggest that SK Hynix began selling the old equipment since it had no more storage space for saving the chip-making equipment.
