Funcom has released a first gameplay trailer for Dune: Awakening at the start of Gamescom. There are many new impressions of the survival MMO, in which players have to fight their way through the desert planet alone or in a team.
The video lasts exactly five minutes and shows the character editor, which players can use to design their own alter ego before loading onto the planet Arrakis. There, their lives are immediately threatened by giant sandworms and the heat of the desert. Those who join forces with others in the open world are therefore clearly at an advantage.
As the game progresses, game elements such as the construction of bases or aircraft can be seen. Of course, spice also plays a crucial role in Dune: Awakening. Those who are able to mine the precious resource can strengthen their influence, form alliances with powerful houses and thus become one of the most influential people on Arrakis. Dune: Awakening will be released for PC in early 2025. Versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will follow at a later date, but currently have no date.
