Elon Musk Announces Ad-Free Twitter with New Subscription Model

Elon Musk admits that users on Twitter often see too many ads. But now a solution is in sight, he announced – he wants to make Twitter users pay for not showing ads.

This is what Elon Musk recently confirmed on Twitter. The whole thing should come in the form of a new paid subscription. However, the exact conditions for the offer have not yet been determined, and the group is probably in the middle of developing new plans. In the end, though, things went quickly.

Twitter needs to make money – that much is clear. The company recently made the headlines when it failed to pay rent on offices and began selling inventory instead. Even before the takeover, Twitter was already in a bad financial position. The new management has therefore applied the red pencil. After the takeover, important advertising customers will also stay away.

Now CEO Elon Musk is addressing user complaints about too much advertising. Advertising is the network’s most important source of income, and Musk does not want to do without it. But there will be an option to buy an ad-free Twitter as a user, Musk announces.

Earlier Hints

“Steps” will now be taken to address the problem of excessive advertising on Twitter. The advertising itself is currently taking up too much space. Finally, Musk reiterated that there will be a new, more expensive subscription tier that will remove ads entirely. There have been considerations about this for a long time, but it has not yet become concrete. Musk had already hinted in mid-December 2022 that a completely ad-free subscription could be launched this year.

At the time, Musk also said the plan was for Twitter Blue subscribers on their current plan to see half as many ads as current free users.
