Enhanced Data Protection in One UI can be used to encrypt cloud backups of Galaxy devices

Cloud storage is becoming more and more crucial for accessing your files remotely and for backup purposes. Samsung recently rolled out a temporary cloud backup for users so that they can store data from their Galaxy devices while their devices are being repaired. This cloud space can store your data for about 30 days.

Although these backups come with the high responsibility of keeping user’s data secure and protected,. Samsung has developed an enhanced data protection feature that allows users to store data with end-to-end encryption.

You can enable enhanced data protection on your Galaxy Device

By turning this feature on, users can encrypt their data before storing it in cloud storage. This encryption will protect users’ data even if storage gets hacked. End-to-end encryption can protect your data of all sorts, including call logs, messages, clocks, system settings, and backups.

The Galaxy device generates a unique recovery code to enable this feature. This code can only be viewed once and isn’t saved on the phone or tablet. Only the user’s devices may access the end-to-end encrypted data, and the code is needed to decrypt the data. Samsung is unable to access it. Open the options app on your Galaxy phone or tablet, go to “Security and privacy,” select “More security settings,” select “Enhanced data protection,” and then tap the ON/OFF toggle to activate the feature.

You will be able to produce the encryption code after completing these procedures. Recall that it is not kept locally and is just displayed once. It is crucial that you store the code in a secure location so that you can use it to decrypt your data and retrieve it from the cloud at any time.

One UI 6.0 offers this capability, which was first made accessible with the One UI 5.1.1 upgrade. Few Galaxy devices got One UI 5.1.1, and the majority went directly from One UI 5.1 to version 6.0.
