Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has reported that Facebook is currently developing an app that will be used with STB’s Set-Top TV Boxes including Apple TV.

Social Media Giant has been found in organizing discussions with profound Media companies in order to initiate the plans.

What Facebook Is Trying To Do

Facebook is planning to expand its horizons into TV market by creating strategic alliances with broadcasters and media groups. Currently Facebook advertising revenue is not what this social media giant can do; Facebook’s annual advertising revenue was reported to $17.08 billion whereas Google’s online advertising revenue was $67.39 billion in 2015.

STB TV boxes will allow Facebook to penetrate in mainstream media with their video advertising products. Video advertising will fetch more revenue from the market and advertisers will pay more for video ads that can cover the social as well as TV market.
