Facebook Tests Two News Feeds Feature

Facebook is testing a new feature of dividing its News Feed into two halves. One half would have all the personal posts and news of the user while the other half would all commercial and advertised posts. This step will make it easier for businesses to reach their target audience.

Currently, a News Feed of any users is a mixture of posts from friends, photos, updates by family members and colleagues, advertisements by businesses, posts of pages liked by an individual and different videos popping up. This is a lot of data at one place. Therefore Facebook is testing to create two user feeds. The test is currently operational in six countries as per a statement from the company. The first feed will have all posts from friends, family, and colleagues while the other one will have commercial business posts and posts from pages liked by the user.

Bolivia, Cambodia, Guatemala, Serbia, Slovakia and Sri Lanka are the countries where this feature is being tested right now. Facebook executive in charge of the News Feed Adam Mosseri said, that the company will not do a global test on 2 billion users. Moreover, Facebook is planning to force commercial pages “to pay for all their distribution.”

Facebook keeps on bringing tests changes for the people, sometimes temporarily and sometimes permanently to see what difference changes make on the users time spent on Facebook.
Recently Facebook-owned WhatsApp is also testing a new feature of bringing group voice and video call option to its app. Also, WhatsApp might add the unsend feature to its app through which messages sent can be recalled and unsent.
