First look at Meta’s Twitter competitor app was displayed during an employee preview of app

A report surfaced over the internet back in March about Meta working on an Instagram-branded competitor. With the latest news, Meta has revealed the first look of the application in an employee preview of the app. We have acquired the first look of the app through some screenshots that have surfaced.

A first look at Meta’s competitor app

“Project 92” is being heard as the internal name for the app, which is most likely to be replaced by “Threads”. The surfaced screenshots are giving us a glimpse of the upcoming Twitter rival app.

As we can observe from these screenshots, the app looks quite familiar with the UI of Instagram. It displays like Instagram without images. Taking advantage of all the chaos going on on Twitter, Meta aimed to compete with the platform through this app.

As per information from Chris Cox, chief producer officer (CPO) at Meta, this app is using Activity Pub’s social networking protocol. Through this statement, we can assume that users will be able to shift their Instagram profiles and followers to this new platform.

Instagram’s information will be available if you’re willing to use this account

As stated by Mr. Cox, this app is Meta’s response to Twitter. In this scenario, if you want to shift, your Instagram account information will already be there waiting for you.

As per information via reports, Meta is in dialogue with some known faces to use the platform, including Oprah Winfrey, the Dalai Lama, DJ Lime, and many more.

The app was in its development stage back in January and is expected to be launched soon. Meta is willing to do it as soon as possible in an effort to provide a good product for users.

Twitter has been facing all kinds of backlash since it was taken over by Elon Musk. It was also appreciated at some point but was the center of attention for a period. Although Meta is all set to launch a rival against the platform, it’ll be interesting to see the results and if they will actually be able to shift users to this new platform.
