Five Awards granted to Pakistani Innovators by UNIDO

UNIDO United Nations Industrial Development Organisation has granted awards to five Pakistani innovators. The innovators belong to clean technologies field. The awards are given under UNIDO’s Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP).

In Islamabad, an award distribution ceremony was held to appreciate the work done by new promising innovators of Pakistan.

‘Modulus Tech’ was the first company that given an award for bringing innovation in the new design of low cost, energy efficient houses.

‘Biotech’ was the second team that was given an award for creating a dual function solar system for rural areas that can run water pumps and flour mills.’

‘Aerosync’ was given the award for the most promising team ran by a woman. The award was given by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) for initiating the idea of an advanced solar power cart for roadside street sellers.

‘Crean’ was another winner and was awarded for starting a technology to use and regenerate old batteries.

Federal Secretary for Climate Syed Abu Ahmed Akif urged that it is important to implement clean technology innovations in controlling the damaging effects of climate change.

He appreciated work done by UNIDO, GEF in organizing the GCIP

He said, “The annual competition fosters green entrepreneurship and supports marketable solutions that address the most pressing global environmental challenges.”

Sheikh Amir Waheed ICCI President stressed that the local and international investors need to invest on producing clean technology in Pakistan.
