Four people charged with blasphemous content on social media

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad Yesterday indicted four people that were arrested for alleged publishing of blasphemous content on social media.

Judge Shahrukh Arjumand was hearing the case and charges against the four for publishing blasphemous content on social media.

But the accused Professor Anwar, Rana Nauman, Nasir and Abdul Waheed denied the charges, the court has decided to call witnesses on the case for further evidence hence, the court is adjourned until September 25.

Previously, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had submitted the charge sheet against the four, the judge directed FIA to give copies of charge sheets to the suspects, FIA has also included the details of alleged blasphemous content and a forensic report in the charge sheet.

The FIA has already arrested four suspects in the case who are now in jail on judicial remand. Those suspects were indicted on March 19 under sections 295-A, 295-B, 295-C, 298, 298-A, 298-B, 109 of Pakistan Penal Code read with section 11 of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and sections 6(f), 7(h), 8 & 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.

FIA was able to arrest four people who were involved in publishing blasphemous content online while three people fled from being detained and FIA is still after them.
