FritzBox laboratory on the way: Problem with MLO-capable devices fixed

There is another new laboratory update for the FritzBox: In the experimental laboratory tests for FritzOS 8.24 there is now a new version that brings more stability and fixes WLAN problems – especially with the FritzBox 5690 Pro.

Lab updates for newer devices on the way

Fritz GmbH (formerly known as AVM) delivers fresh laboratory updates for two of its current router models: Both the FritzBox 5690 Pro and the FritzBox 5590 Fiber receive a new preliminary version of FritzOS 8.24. The new firmware has recently been available and, as usual, is aimed at users who want to test new functions and bug fixes before the official release.

Lots of optimizations

The focus of the update is primarily on stability improvements. Fritz says he has worked on the system for both devices to increase overall reliability. In addition, the FritzBox 5690 Pro receives targeted optimizations in the WLAN area. This solved connection problems with so-called MLO-capable devices – i.e. hardware that can use several frequency bands in parallel. This can ensure noticeably more stable connections, especially in modern WLAN environments with Wi-Fi 7. In addition, the stability of the WLAN on the 5690 Pro has been further improved.

However, the laboratory update does not bring any specific new functions; the focus is clearly on fine-tuning in the background. As usual, the new version can be installed directly via the update function of the user interface if you are already using a laboratory version. Alternatively, Fritz also places the files manually on his Lab page ready. Since this is a test version, minor problems may still occur – but in return, users receive early access to optimizations. Further laboratory updates for other models could follow in the coming days. The following devices are currently in the laboratory program for FritzOS version 8.24
