Among the numerous enhancements made to One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S24 series is Instant Slow-mo. You can use this useful little feature to adjust the speed at which films play within the Gallery app. To enable the magic to happen, simply tap and hold the screen.
Instant Slow-mo functionality has a lower and upper resolution restriction, even though it functions consistently. More specifically, videos with resolutions lower than 720p or 8K cannot be used with Instant Slow-mo. Any videos, including screen captures and files you’ve received from other devices, are subject to this regulation. The only requirement is that the video be at least 720p and no higher than 4K for Instant Slo-mo to work.
For Instant Slow-mo’s artificial intelligence (AI) to create new frames and convert standard videos into slow-motion ones, it needs enough data, or a better quality. However, if you feed it too much data, for example, an 8K video, Instant Slow-mo won’t be able to manage the result.
You shouldn’t be concerned about the lower resolution restriction if you’re using the Galaxy S24 to capture videos. First, the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are not able to record videos in a resolution lower than Full HD. Furthermore, a video recorded with the Galaxy S24 cannot be edited to have a sub-HD resolution. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy 8K films in slow motion within the Gallery app, you might want to stay away from filming them.
Furthermore, you should set the resolution higher than 480p if you intend to use Instant Slow-mo for screen recordings. To accomplish this, launch the Settings app on your Galaxy device, choose “Advanced features,” “Screenshots and screen recordings,” and “Video quality,” then choose a resolution greater than 480p.
You may pre-order the Galaxy S24 series if you want to take advantage of the Instant Slow-mo feature and many other new AI-powered features, or you can wait for the One UI 6.1 upgrade to roll out on more Galaxy devices in the hopes that Instant Slow-mo will be included. Prior to the pre-order window closing on January 31, customers who choose the S24 option can take advantage of free storage upgrades and other benefits.
