Galaxy S25 Edge Only Comes With 25W Fast Charging

The Galaxy S25 series is grabbing headlines, but excitement for Samsung’s latest Android flagships seems to be lukewarm. The design hasn’t evolved much over the years, and aside from a chip upgrade, the spec improvements are fairly modest. Instead, most of the buzz is surrounding the Galaxy S25 Edge—but Samsung has only teased the phone’s design so far.

Now, a new leak has revealed some details about the Galaxy S25 Edge’s charging capabilities, and it’s honestly underwhelming. According to a listing on the Chinese 3C certification website (spotted by 91Mobiles), the Galaxy S25 Edge—previously rumored to be called the Galaxy S25 Slim—will feature 25W charging.

This 25W charging matches the base Galaxy S25 model but is significantly slower than the 45W charging available on the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Since the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to sit between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra, the slower charging capability doesn’t make it any more appealing.

Samsung’s charging speeds are also falling behind the competition. Brands like OnePlus currently offer 80W charging on their flagships and have provided speeds of 65W since the OnePlus 8T back in 2020. For more context, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro XL supports 37W fast charging, while even the smaller Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro offer 27W charging.

The Galaxy S25 Edge could also face another drawback—potentially smaller battery capacity. The device is thinner than the Galaxy S25, which might mean a smaller battery unless Samsung introduces Silicon Carbon batteries. If not, users may find themselves tethered to a charger more often.

It’s disappointing to see Samsung making little to no progress on charging technology, and for the Galaxy S25 Edge, this could be a real dealbreaker.
