Samsung has also been marketing its own robust smartphones for some time now, which are well suited for outdoor use while walking or on the construction site with mostly mediocre equipment. This year it is the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro that is now available for preview.
About the Indian website, GizNext Photos, and the first concrete information about the specifications of the new Samsung Galaxy XCover6 Pro were published yesterday. It is a new variant of the rugged smartphones of the Korean manufacturer, which now uses a relatively strong Qualcomm platform with an integrated 5G modem for the first time.
The Galaxy XCover 6 Pro has a 6.56-inch LCD panel with a teardrop-shaped “notch” for the front camera integrated at the top edge. The panel has a pleasantly high resolution of 2408×1080 pixels but has also been kept quite simple. The fixed refresh rate of 60 Hertz corresponds to the usual standard.
There is now a 13-megapixel camera in the “notch” at the top of the screen, while a 50-megapixel sensor in the main camera on the back should provide decent photo quality. There is also an additional camera, for whose resolution and intended use there is no reliable information yet.
The Galaxy XCover 6 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G octa-core SoC, i.e. the upper mid-range chip from the American chip supplier’s range with speeds up to 2.4 gigahertz, which also comes with an integrated 5G modem. and more than enough performance for a hiking or construction site smartphone.
Samsung provides the chip with a total of six gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of internal flash memory, although it is unclear whether this can be expanded. The photos suggest that the smartphone is again well protected against environmental influences and should therefore be IP68 certified. In addition, the lack of slots from the edge of the case shows that the battery and microSD card slot should be accessible by opening the case, suggesting that the battery can be replaced here.
The case also has the usual features of Samsung’s rugged smartphones, i.e. there is a clearly visible notification LED, a headphone jack, pogo pins for using external accessories, and a large additional button on the left edge of the case, which allows you to can press, for example -To-talk functions if supported in the respective country. According to previous leaks, the Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro 5G SM-G736 will ship with Android 12, which means it will have the Samsung One UI 4 on board. There is no information yet about the price and the availability period of the new rugged smartphone.
