Gboard now allows Galaxy tablet users to write in text fields using their S Pens

Samsung devices have allowed users to write directly on the text field with a S Pen. However, the capability was limited to the Samsung Keyboard software, which was required to type in the text box. Even Gboard now supports this type of handwriting feature.

The Gboard app now includes the write-on-text field feature from Samsung Keyboard

On supported devices, the Gboard app now supports writing directly on text fields with a pen. There is a new feature labeled ‘Write in Text Fields‘ in the Gboard app’s settings area. Your handwriting will be turned into typed text if you write directly on any text field where text may be typed. You may even test this functionality from the Gboard app’s settings menu. Handwriting speed and stroke width may be adjusted. Emojis can also be enabled on the toolbar.

There are many movements for starting a new line, deleting words, selecting text, inserting new text, and joining letters. The Write In Text Fields area of Gboard’s settings menu describes all of these new gestures, including how to use them and what they accomplish. A floating keyboard toolbar displays wherever you type in the text field, according to 9To5Google. It has shortcuts for deleting, entering a new line, emoticons, and a hamburger menu for extra options.

With the most recent beta version (13.7) of Gboard, all these new features are accessible on Android 14-powered tablets from Samsung and Google. This function differs from Gboard’s handwriting layout, which lets you use a stylus to write on the keyboard area rather than a real text field on the screen.
