GeForce RTX 3090 Ti: Nvidia keeps a secret about the new flagship

With the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, Nvidia is about to launch a new flagship graphics card. But the manufacturer holds back with details. In the course of CES 2022, the Ampere GPU was officially confirmed, but specifications can only be found in the rumored kitchen. While Nvidia focused primarily on the mobile laptop offshoots of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti at its CES keynote, experts anticipated a simultaneous presentation of the new RTX 3090 Ti and various memory upgrades within the Ampere family. In terms of the expansion of the desktop GPU portfolio, there was little to see besides the RTX 3050 as entry-level gaming for $249.

Existence confirmed, questions not answered

As “One More Thing”, Nvidia’s Senior Vice President Jeff Fisher held the new GeForce RTX 3090 Ti model in the camera, but apart from a 40 TFLOPS performance, he hardly spoke about the technical details, possible availability, or the price of the graphics card. Instead, interested parties have to rely on the recently leaked information, which, among other things, was shared by colleagues from VideoCardz should have learned from reliable sources.

Accordingly, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti should have 84 compute units, 10,752 Cuda cores, and 336 tensor cores. The clock rates of 1560 to 1860 MHz should be around 10 percent higher than those of the previous RTX 3090 model. The clock rate (21 Gbps) and bandwidth (1008 GB / s) of the GDDR6X memory, which is still equipped with 24 GB, are similar. If you trust the leaked specifications, the TDP, which has increased by more than 28 percent to 450 watts, should also be taken into account when choosing a power supply. Official confirmation from Nvidia is expected later in January. At least that’s how it will be on the official website announced.
