Google Home app receives new controls for various smart home devices

The Google Home app enables users to control various devices. The users can control Android TV, Google TV, Vacuum cleaners, fans, and air purifiers. Interestingly, the app is now compatible with TV sets accompanied by the Nest Hub and Google Home apps. They can now be controlled via the touch controls of the app.

In august 2022, the company declared that soon the Google Home app would be compatible with controlling various smart home devices. It was expected that the control pages of the devices will receive the supported controls. As of now, users are able to utilize the latest controls on the Google Home app as well.

As per the information by some Reddit users, the latest touch controls provide users with a variety of options. These touch controls are helpful in muting/unmuting/, powering on/off, playing/pausing, channeling, turning the volume up/down, or selecting Source. Previously, these features were presented for Nest Hub devices. But now they are being made available to the Google Home app. According to some users, the updates are available with version 2.62.1.9 of the Google Home app. Furthermore, the latest Google Home TV controls will be introduced by a server-side update. However, the recent controls are presented to some and not all of eh gadgets.

Do note that the controls are slightly different from the ones presented on Google Cast-enabled TVs and those presented on Android TVs. As per some reports, the updates are available on the Google Home app on Samsung and LG TVs. As of now, the feature is not rolled out widely. Therefore, if you are not viewing any changes you should wait for the update to roll out on a massive scale.
