Google Launches Official Password Manager App for Android

Google offers the so-called Google Password Manager for the first time via the Play Store as an independent app. This gives users of the Android mobile operating system a clear app to easily manage their passwords for apps and services. Basically, you offer a kind of simple surface for what has been included in Android for a long time anyway.

So far, users have mostly received suggestions for the download of known solutions from third-party providers such as Bitwarden, Proton Pass or Enpass when looking for a password manager in the Play store. With its own app, Google now offers an official solution, which could be more attractive for many users than the products of the third -party manufacturers.

With its independent password management app, Google makes functions centrally available, which is part of Chrome and Android for a long time. In addition to simple passwords, the increasingly widespread passkeys are also supported. Basically, the app is only a kind of abbreviation for access to the password management of the operating system. In addition to handling passwords and passkeys, the app also allows the end-to-end encryption to be activated on the respective host device.

All stored data is thus fully encrypted and transferred on request, whereby the encryption is linked to the screen lock of the respective device, which can only be unlocked by means of a number code, fingerprint or facial recognition.
