Google Meet will ask you to uninstall the old Meet for joining up to new server

Which one are you using, Google Meet or Google Meet (original)?

The confusion continues to be associated with Google’s product, the Google Meet app. The app was renamed “Meet” over the last year. Other than this app, there was also the older app available in the Play Store that was renamed from being Google Meet to Google Meet (original). A recent notification appearing in the app announces the end of Google Meet.

As per information via Android authority, Google is asking its users to uninstall Meet in order to join up a new server; this information was stated in a tweet posted by Journalist Munsif Vengatti. The notification states the best result if you uninstall the meet (original) app, along with a button that heads you right to the Play Store where you can install the latest meet app.

From all this information, we can assume that the Original Meet app is being knocked out. As per the announcement Google made when it combined Meet and Duo back in 2022, it claimed to be ending support for Meet (original). From this notification, we can assume that it’s a first step that will move all the users to the latest app from the original app.

This all may be confusing for a while, but the platform is doing its best to make it all available in a single app to remove the confusion. You can look for this latest version in the Play Store, or you can install it right from your app notification.
