Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 5 batteries will be purchased by Samsung from LG

One of the keys to surviving in the ever-changing dynamics of today’s world is diversification. Well, many companies and businesses adopt the diversification strategy to avoid future troubles. One such move has been observed by the South Korean tech firm. The company has chosen LG for the supply of batterie for its upcoming foldable smartphones. Seemingly, the company has abandoned Samsung Electronics as an option for the components like batteries, chipsets, and image sensors.

Samsung Electronics has traditionally relied on the battery providers Samsung SDI and China’s ATL. In the past, Samsung Electronics has frequently purchased this key component from LG, and it appears that it will do so once more for its next foldable phones.

LG is back in the game for Samsung foldable batteries

Some recent pieces of information indicate that Samsung Electronics will be relying on LG Energy Solution for the batteries of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. Well, this is not surprising at all. Since Samsung is not acquiring batteries from LG for the first time ever. Rather the company has been seeking LG Energy Solution for the past three years.

Besides the foldable smartphones, Samsung has approached LG Energy Solution for other devices as well like the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. Several low and mid-range devices of the company are powered by using LG batteries. Now for the 2023 foldable lineup, LG has joined Samsung SDI and China ATL as the battery suppliers.

Last week, a few images of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 batteries surfaced online. These images revealed that the batteries will be replaceable. They will come with a pull tab.  This approach reflects the eco-friendly strategy of the company via which the firm aims to focus on sustainability. It is anticipated that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will arrive later this year, possibly in the second half.
