Google Messages to make read receipts visible on the chat box

Sometimes we are unable to respond back to received messages, which can be due to being busy, or in other cases, you are one of those late responders who don’t like to reply instantly. In both cases, it’s best to turn on read recipients unless you don’t want to be in ghost mode. Many applications that are being used for instant messaging provide this option of reading the recipient. If we talk about WhatsApp, the small tick available at the bottom corner turns blue, meaning the message has been seen. As with this app, other apps may provide this option too, maybe in a different way. Since RCS was introduced in Google Chat, it’s provided the same facility. Recently, a new feature was introduced that makes read recipients available at the bottom corner of each chat bubble. In the latest version, Google is planning to add delivery status indicators to the conversation list. With this new feature, you won’t have to specifically open the chat to know if it’s been seen or not.

Read recipients are now available with chat

With this latest update, message recipients are now available on the left of your message. These recipients are in the form of checkmarks covered by circles. A pair of these checkmarks will appear for your message being delivered, and a solid circle will appear if the messages have been read or seen.

This latest feature is pretty convenient as it will let you know when your messages are seen and when they haven’t been read yet. But it’s got to get a little messy as displaying these checkmarks along with your name on the label and the last message.

As per information via 9to5Google, the platform is testing the latest counter that will appear for counter messages. This counter will be displayed on the right corner of unopened messages and will show the count of messages that are unread. This latest feature will replace the dot that was being displayed in terms of unread messages.

All these latest updates are currently available on the beta channel. These changes will surely provide a breakthrough, because after this update you’ll not be able to read the messages unless you are actually willing to reply to that conversation. The recipient will make you reply right away as soon as you open up the chat.
