Google & Netflix take Measures to Ease Burden on Pakistani Telecom Networks

Google and Netflix, the global service providers have informed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority about various steps they are taking to support and reduce the stress on national telecommunications networks during the COVID19 outbreak.

New features and resources have been introduced by Google to provide locally related info to Pakistani users. These features include the expansion of COVID19 SOS Alerts and Knowledge Panels on Google Search along with YouTube Information Panels.

This product features connect to the National Institute of Health to offer locally relevant info. Also, Google is offering ad inventory to the Ministry of National Health Services. The aim is to ensure that Google can spotlight timely, helpful information.

Furthermore, Google has launched a speech-based reading app called Bolo. The app uses machine learning to help children read aloud confidently via using their own voice. Due to the closure of schools the app is also made available in Urdu.

Furthermore, a free English app has been launched which incorporates fast and easy lessons on business, marketing, management, and more.

Google has also removed misinformation regarding coronavirus. Netflix revealed that in order to control its traffic on telecommunication networks in Pakistan during the COVID19 pandemic it has found ways to reduct traffic by 25% along with maintaining the service quality. This offer is applicable for 30 days.
