Google Phone Now Available On PlayStore In Beta

The Android app “Google Phone” has been used as a standard application for making calls on pixel smartphones for some time. After other manufacturers have used the app over time, the software can now be downloaded from the Google PlayStore.

In addition to Google, Chinese manufacturers Xiaomi and Oppo are now also using the phone app on their latest models. So far, the search engine group has not offered the application in its own store. If the app was not preinstalled, a cumbersome sideload had to be carried out. As XDA-Developers reports, the program can now be installed directly through the official Play Store.

Only compatible with a few models

Nevertheless, the app is still only compatible with selected smartphones. These include the Oppo Find X2 Pro, the Asus ZenFone 6, the LG V60 ThinQ and of course all models on which the application could previously be used. So far, the phone app cannot be used in combination with Samsung or OnePlus devices.

Currently, the app, which supports the models of other manufacturers, is still a beta version. Before downloading from the Google Play Store, the user must register for the beta program. All you need is a Google account. There does not seem to be a restriction on who can register for the test phase. The call screening feature is available exclusively for pixel devices and cannot be used on other smartphones.

It is still unclear when a final version of the phone app will be available for the smartphones mentioned. It is also unclear whether Google wants to expand support in the future and have a larger number of Android models supported.
