Redmi K40 Pro Might Support IP68 Dust And Water Resistance

On the evening of April 11, Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of the Redmi brand, said that the Redmi K30 Pro supports IP53-level life against splashes, and I don’t think IP68 is needed. Lu said this on his Weibo account.

Lu Weibing further stated that if you like IP68, we will consider joining in future products.

Some netizens commented that President Lu suggested that Redmi K40 Pro may support IP68 dust and water resistance.

At present, in the high-end flagship, there are already many models supporting IP68 dust and water resistance, such as Huawei P40 Pro, Galaxy S20 Ultra, iPhone 11 Pro Max, OPPO Find X2 Pro, Google Pixel 4 XL, Sony Xperia 1, and so on.

The biggest advantage of IP68 protection is to effectively prevent equipment failure caused by accidental water drops. Considering that this feature is only supported on high-end flagships, it is the Redmi high-end flagship that supports IP68 protection from dust and water. Therefore, it is guessed that K40 Pro may have this feature.

With the independence of the Redmi brand, Redmi has also launched its own high-end flagship from K20 Pro. Some flagship functions have appeared in the Redmi K series, such as dual OIS optical image stabilization, Redmi K30 Pro zoom version has been supported, In the future, it is expected that IP68 dustproof and waterproof will also appear on the Redmi flagships. We will wait until the next generation of Redmi K40 Pro arrives.
