Google Pixel 11a: Leak promises innovations in 2 important areas

The alleged technical specifications of the upcoming Google Pixel 11a have now appeared online. Accordingly, buyers of the budget smartphone can look forward to a new processor and a change in the modem.

New processor for the Pixel 11a

A fresh leak provides detailed specifications for Google’s affordable smartphone model, the Pixel 11a. The device is expected to come onto the market in March 2027 and is intended to resolve fundamental criticisms of its predecessor. In the previous model, the Pixel 10a, the manufacturer installed the older Tensor G4 chip. This led to dissatisfaction among buyers because the device was technically very similar to the Pixel 9a. Google now apparently wants to give the new model with the internal code name “Formosan” a performance boost. Reports Mystic Leaks the new Tensor G6 processor is supposed to work inside. It also has eight gigabytes of RAM.

Another important aspect is changing the modem hardware. Google is probably saying goodbye to Samsung’s often criticized components. Instead, a MediaTek M90 modem will be used for more stable wireless connections. According to the leak, the front has a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with 120 Hertz and a maximum of 3350 nits.

Battery and new camera

However, a look at the supposed energy supply reveals a possible weak point. The battery capacity is stated as 4870 mAh. At least on paper, this represents a step down from the Pixel 10a, which offers over 5000 mAh. However, due to the higher energy efficiency of the new Tensor chip, the running time could still remain stable. The smartphone probably also has innovations in store for photographers. A previously unknown front camera with the code name “Dokkaebi” will be used. At the same time, Google is optimizing facial recognition for the entire smartphone series. In the future, facial unlocking should react more quickly and work more reliably in poor lighting conditions.

Color selection

Buyers are expected to have the choice between four color variants for the Pixel 11a: black, green, purple and silver. As a small detail, the code name “Marmoset” also appeared for the even more distant Pixel 12a. Until Google confirms the data, it remains to be seen whether the hardware upgrades will change the price of the mid-range series. There is no information available on this yet.
