Google rolls out Android 13 beta 2.1 Update For Pixel smartphones

Google has rolled out a new beta of Android 13, version 2.1. Rather than adding new features, this release only fixes a few bugs on Pixel smartphones.

After an initial public beta released last April, it’s been about two weeks since Google rolled out Android 13 Beta 2 at its annual Google I/O conference, bringing with it some new changes for the next major Android release. In addition to improving Material You themes and implementations for tablets, this update also enabled all smartphone manufacturers to make their devices compatible.

The list of devices that are eligible for the beta has therefore been expanded considerably. Beta 2 had of course not only brought improvements, but also a number of bugs. This makes several weeks that Pixel smartphones are dealing with stability issues and that’s exactly what this new 2.1 update is trying to correct.

Android 13 beta 2.1 brings fixes for Pixels

Google just rolled out Android 13 Beta 2.1. The update brings a handful of bug fixes and some stability improvements for Pixel smartphones. One of the solutions should solve a problem where: typing information in the search bar results in an empty list of suggestions.

Smartphones also faced an issue where: a device would freeze and reboot when turning on the mobile hotspot Other solutions resolve an issue where: devices would freeze and reboot after disconnecting Android Auto and another where the sound of a call ringing could be heard in the background during a phone call. The update will be pushed OTA (over-the-air) to support Pixel devices (Pixel 4, 4a, 5, 5a, 6, and 6 Pro series) that are enrolled in the Android Beta program.

You can check if the update is available on your device by going to Settings > System > System updates. Those who are already using the Android 13 preview will automatically get this update and the next one† In June, Google should roll out a new beta version of Android 13, which this time will bring a new set of new features. In particular, this new version is expected to change the design of the application search suggestions on the Pixel launcher.
