Google TV and Android TV are getting access to YouTube’s 1080p Premium resolution

Over the course of the previous few months, YouTube has introduced several new features to its subscription tiers to attract more users to buy the Premium plan. In this perspective, the company introduced 1080p videos exclusively for Premium users. For this, YouTube received a lot of criticism for allegedly making 4K resolution a premium-only advantage.

Although the business later reversed that adjustment, it is nonetheless adding a video quality level that is exclusively available to premium users. Google TV and Android TV now support YouTube’s 1080p premium video quality level. Well, it doesn’t indicate that the 1080p quality setting will be limited to premium subscribers. Rather, the company will offer a high-quality version of 1080p with a high bit rate,

The feature will be available on Google TV and Android TV

Well, this is not surprising news for YouTube users. the company has already tested video quality on iOS and Apple TV. It has more acceptance than the 4K fiasco while not gaining as much traction.

Users of Google TV and Android TV are reportedly able to select the new video quality option on their devices, according to 9To5Google. The folks at 9to5Google uploaded screenshots of the new option, of them. It will sit directly above the standard 1080p options rather than replacing them.

As of now, there is no information on when this feature will be made available to the public. In any event, we are confident that it will be greeted much more favorably than placing the 4K quality behind a paywall. Well, we already know that YouTube has introduced several new features behind the paywall. On the other hand, 4K video quality is accessible to users for quite a long. Making such a feature exclusive to Premium users is not good for the company.
