YouTube introduces five new features to the YouTube Premium tier

YouTube has been making continuous efforts to introduce a variety of new features to the platform for the past few years. It has been working hard to attract more and more users to its premium plans. In this lieu, the company has introduced five new features that intend to improve the experience of the platform.

One of the notable features is the “1080p premium” tier of video quality. It has the capacity to offer a high bitrate for playback. Resultantly, premium subscribers get to experience clear videos with details. Do note that the 1080p quality level is presently only available for iOS devices. The company declares that it will soon be rolled out for other users as well.  

YouTube has introduced a new feature named “Meet Live Sharing”. Such a feature is intended to offer a more socialized experience. using this feature various users can watch the same video together irrespective of the fact that they have subscribed to the premium plan or not. This feature is available on Android devices. It will be rolled out to iOS users in the coming weeks. iOS users could access it via FaceTime.

The blog post from YouTube states that “Premium members can host Google Meet sessions where all participants, regardless of whether they are Premium or free users, can watch YouTube videos together through Meet Live Share on Android devices.”

The queuing feature was in the testing phase for a long time. As of now, it is finally going to be released to phones and tablets. Using this feature, users could create a queue of videos, add any new ones, or change the position of videos in the queue. Besides this, the new Smart Downloads feature will enable the automatic downloading of recommended videos using Wi-Fi or cellular data for offline watching at a later time. In addition to this, the company will also add a “continue watching” feature. This feature will permit users to continue watching videos from the point they left off, irrespective of the device they are using.
