Almost a week before the planned gameplay reveal on Netflix, unauthorized gameplay scenes from Grand Theft Auto 6 have surfaced. A hacker group called Cyberleek published two short videos and a supposed world map of the game online. According to the authors, the action is intended to be a direct protest against the abandonment of physical data carriers, which the publisher will carry out in the first phase of publication. The leaked clips show the protagonist Jason in various game situations and environments. Although the developers at Rockstar Games immediately responded with strict requests for deletion, the material quickly spread across numerous social media channels.

Role-playing elements in focus

As Polygon reported, the scenes indicate game mechanics that are intended to make the characters’ everyday lives more realistic. In one video, Jason throws a basketball into a basket in the driveway of a house. After a successful hit, a bar for the Focus status value immediately fills. This suggests that leisure activities outside of the main missions have a direct impact on the character’s abilities. The user interface also shows two different money displays. These indicators could indicate separate finances for the main character and a shared hideout, making resource management more complex.

Vehicle combat and reputation system

A second video is dedicated to road traffic in the fictional state of Leonida. After a violent collision with a delivery truck, Jason gets into a fight with the driver. Using a pipe wrench as a weapon drains your stamina meter and quickly leads to an active wanted level by the police. Additionally, a devil symbol appears on the screen. This suggests a reputation system similar to that used in the western game Red Dead Redemption 2. In addition, screen displays show that players will have to refuel their vehicles manually in the future and that these will serve as mobile storage for equipment.

In addition to the videos, Cyberleek published an image that is supposed to show the complete map of the game world. You can see a large metropolis in the east and numerous islands in the south.
