Half-Life 2 RTX Gets Playable Demo

Valve The popular Half-Life 2 RTX demo is now available free of charge for all owners of the original on Steam. This new edition of the 2004 classic user uses modern raytracing technology to improve the gaming experience. Players can experience two of the most striking sections of the game in revised graphics.

  • Free demo for owners of the original game
  • Revised Level: Ravenholm and Nova prospectus
  • Use of raytracing and high -resolution textures
  • Minimal system requirements: Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, 50 GB storage space

Revised Level: Ravenholm and Nova prospectus

In the demo, players can explore the dark city of Ravenholm and the Nova prospect prison. These sections are considered to be particularly atmospheric and benefit from the nightly environments and interior areas that highlight the raytracing effects. The selection of these levels enables the graphic improvements to be presented particularly impressively.

Technical improvements and requirements

Half-Life 2 RTX offers completely revised, high-resolution assets and materials. A particularly demanding pathtracing mode challenges current hardware. The minimal system requirements are:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: at least GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
  • Storage space: 50 GB of free memory

These requirements are moderate for a game with raytracing focus, but still demanding. The high -resolution assets also claim considerable storage space.

Availability and outlook

The demo is available free of charge on Steam for all owners of the original game. A publication date for the complete remake has not yet been announced by the Orbifold Studios, who are leading the project with the support of Nvidia. Since it is a fan project, it could take some time before the entire game appears in a revised form. For fans of the original, the demo offers an exciting insight into the possibilities of modern graphics technologies and awakens anticipation for a complete new edition.
