Honor Pad 8 Specifications And Details

The Honor Pad 8 is the Chinese manufacturer’s first tablet that is officially available in Europe. The highlight is undoubtedly the 12-inch display, which is almost unrivaled in the price range of around 350 euros.

Large display and good sound

The Honor Pad 8 looks good. This is of course due to the particularly large display, but there is hardly anything to complain about in terms of workmanship. The tablet is 6.9 millimeters thin and weighs only 520 grams. The case is made entirely of metal.

The good and loud sound comes from a total of eight speakers, but there is no headphone jack. Both the front camera and the rear camera have a resolution of 5 megapixels – while this may be sufficient for selfies and video conferences, the quality of the main camera is unfortunately disappointing overall.

In any case, very few would probably buy the Honor Pad 8 because of its cameras. The decisive factor here is the display: It is 12 inches in size, so it is a good deal larger than most Android tablets from different manufacturers. It is a pity, however, that the resolution of 2000 × 1200 pixels and the resulting pixel density (194 ppi) is not very high. This could bother some users since the fonts and icons are not quite as sharp as on many other tablets or smartphones.

Performance could be better

Honor installs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 in the Pad 8 as well as 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the benchmark tools Geekbench 5 and 3DMark show that the performance is only slightly above that of entry-level tablets.

Devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite or the Xiaomi Pad 5 are more powerful. Thus, the Honor Pad 8 cannot be recommended for those who primarily want to use the tablet for games. Of course, simple games run without any problems.

The Honor Pad 8 comes with Android 12 and the Magic UI version 6.1. The Play Store and other Google apps are available, and Netflix and Co. also run in HD.
