House of the Dragon: Date and Information on the Game of Thrones Spin-off

Game of Thrones is the most successful TV series of all time, so the tension leading up to the House of the Dragon spin-off is correspondingly high. Now HBO has revealed when the prequel will begin, which is August 21. There is also plenty of new photos and information. There is certainly nothing wrong with describing Game of Thrones as more than one series. Because the fantasy epic not only provided tension and drama for eight seasons but was also a huge success for the American broadcaster. It soon became clear that there would be multiple sequels, but some didn’t get off the ground as quickly as hoped.

Starts at the end of August

On August 21, the time has finally come, with House of the Dragon HBO and HBO Max will show the first offshoot. In German-speaking countries, the series will certainly be shown on Sky. The subscriber station must confirm a concrete start date, but it can be assumed that the series will be shown parallel to the American release.

The date has HBO Max via Twitter revealed, along with an appropriate image of a Darchenei about to hatch. At the same time, however, numerous pictures were published, showing the main characters of the series.

Fans are finally getting the descriptions of the main protagonists and antagonists. These usually go by the name Targaryen, which of course isn’t much of a surprise, as the prequel focuses on the ruling white-haired dynasty. Central roles are played by King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), his brother Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), the king’s firstborn daughter. The House of Hightower also plays an important role, more specifically Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) and his daughter Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke). Specific plot details are not yet known, but it is clear that House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
