How to activate voice set up on Windows 11

With the advancement of technology, Microsoft has brought great accessibility to its latest products. All users may get the most out of their devices with the aid of products like the Surface Adaptive Kit and Xbox Adaptive Controller. And in terms of software, Microsoft just updated Windows 11 with a significant feature: voice access. This function first appeared in Windows 11 version 22H2.

The process of using voice access to manage your PC is quite simple. You can open apps, type text, and more thanks to the extensive number of available commands. Here’s how to set it up and get going if you want to test out voice access for yourself:

  • Tap into your settings option on the PC.
  • Click on the Accessibility tab from the left-side menu.
  • Click on the speech option.
  • Turn the voice-speech option on by pushing the toggle.
  • A bar will appear at the top of your screen. Tap on the download option in the bar to install it on your PC.
  • When downloading is complete, you can click the microphone icon in the top left corner to activate access.
  • You can randomly say anything to activate it.
  • A list of commands will appear on your screen that can be used.
  • For any kind of navigation, you can use the available commands.
  • You can use “Voice Access Sleep” to shut down the service and “Voice Access Wakeup” to activate it again.
  • For entirely shutting it down, you can gear up the icon on the top right corner and tap on turn off access.

It’s a rather easy operation that allows you a new way to operate your PC that doesn’t involve using your hands as much, which might be advantageous for those who have physical limitations or issues like chronic pain. Although Microsoft is aiming to spread the capability to other English dialects, it currently only functions in English, specifically in the United States.
