We explain each of them step by step and with screenshots. If the Google Assistant is not working well on your mobile, these solutions can help you.

Confirm that the Google Assistant is activated

The first thing you need to do is confirm that the Google Assistant is activated. It can be a very “dumb” method, but it is possible that it has been deactivated on your phone at some point without realizing it and, therefore, it does not answer your calls. Say “Ok Google” or swipe up from the bottom right corner of the screen. If the wizard appears, you will have confirmed that it is activated and that this is not the problem.

Confirm that voice command is activated

If the Google Assistant activates with the gesture, but not with the voice command, it may be that the voice command is disabled. This is something you can quickly fix from your own settings of the wizard by following these steps:

  • Open the Google app and tap on your profile picture in the upper right corner.
  • Go into “Settings”.
  • Accede to “Google Assistant”.
  • Go into “Hey Google and Voice Match”.
  • Check the “Ok Google” box within the “This device” section.

In this way, the Google Assistant will be activated every time you say “Ok Google”, even when the screen is off or you are using an app. By enabling this command, the assistant will most often respond every time you call it.

If you only see “Uninstall” and “Open” buttons, then the Google Assistant app is now up to date to the latest version. Therefore, this is most likely not the cause of the problem. By the way, if you want it to be always up to date, you can activate the button “Update automatically” by clicking on the three-dot button in the upper right corner of your page in the Play Store.

Turn off battery saving mode

Another reason that can cause the Google Assistant not to work well is that have battery-saving mode is activated on your mobile. In this way, the operation of some functions, such as the wizard itself, may be limited. To solve it, this is the procedure to follow:

Your problems with the Google Assistant may also be due to the fact that it does not recognize your voice well because you did not perform the necessary procedure well. Don’t worry, because you have the possibility to do it again so that, now, the Assistant can recognize your voice with total clarity. In this way, when activating it with “Ok Google” or asking something, it will perfectly understand what you have said. This is how you can save your voice model:

  • Open the Google app and tap on your profile picture in the top right corner.
  • Go into “Settings”.
  • Accede to “Google Assistant”.
  • Go into “Hey Google and Voice Match”.
  • tap on “Voice Model”.
  • Choose “Recreate voice model” and follow the indicated steps.

Finally, the cause of the problem can also be due to an incorrect configuration of the settings of the Google Assistant. For this reason, we recommend that you enter the configuration page of the wizard, as we have explained in previous methods, and consult each of the settings. For example, it is possible that the languages are not configured correctly hence the assistant does not understand you when you speak to it.
