HTC Plans To Launch First 5G Smartphone In July: Rumors

The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has been concentrating mainly on its virtual reality headsets for a long time, but apparently still does not want to leave it when it comes to smartphones. In summer, the first 5G smartphone from HTC is expected.

It is learned from the ePrice portal that HTC plans to launch new smartphones around the middle of the year. The new market for 5G-capable devices is apparently also in the sights because one of the planned models is said to bring support for the new mobile technology. The aim is to serve the first generation change in customers’ smartphones.

First HTC 5G smartphone with a new Qualcomm chip

Specifically, the first 5G smartphone from HTC should be expected in July, after a second new model is expected in June, which “only” comes with 4G support. HTC probably wants to serve primarily the middle price range again, although it is oriented towards the lower end of the price range.

The same could also apply to the first 5G smartphone from HTC, as one does not want to accept the costs and effort for the development of high-end models for the time being. It was recently heard from our sources that HTC plans to use a new Qualcomm SoC that is located below the Snapdragon 765 5G.

This could be the recently sighted chip with the internal model number SM6350, i.e. the first 5G-capable SoC from the Snapdragon 600 series. We do not know whether the chip will be used in HTC’s first 5G phone, which is expected in July.

No further information is available on the planned devices. A few weeks ago, a sketch made the round on which an HTC Desire 20 Pro should be visible. This will probably be a mid-range device that will come without 5G support, with your Snapdragon 600 SoC and a camera unit consisting of at least three sensors.
