Huawei introduces FreeBuds 5 with some improved features

Huawei has introduced a new set of its flagship open-fit earbuds i.e., FreeBuds 5. In comparison, the Pro series accompany a silicone seal whereas these do not.  

The unique design of the FreeBuds 5

The company has introduced a new and unique design to the new earbuds. The company refers to this new design as a “droplet-shaped design”. Here we can see major modifications in the design of the FreeBuds 5 in contrast to the FreeBuds 4. The company states that the design change is the result of “tens of thousands of ergonomic imitations and hundreds of optimizations”. All these efforts are made to ensure that the double-C curves fit the outlines of the ears.

Such a design will limit strain on the ears. In this way, it will provide a breathable wearing experience. the stem is shaped like an arc that will ensure that the pressure distributes equally when the earbud is tapped.

Some unique features of FreeBuds 5

The Huawei FreeBuds 5 comes with

  • frequency response is 50% higher than the FreeBuds 4
  • triple adaptive EQ
  • support for L2HC and LDAC codecs
  • HWA and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified
  • 990 kbps audio transmission rate
  • Support for 96kHz/24-bit HD audio
  • an adaptive tri-mic hybrid noise cancellation, with “intelligent dynamic ANC”

FreeBuds 5 feature a fast charging rate in contrast to the previous models

The charging capacity of the new earbuds is improved. As per the company, they can offer 30 hours of use for a complete charge. When charged for 5 minutes, users will get 2 hours of charging time. In comparison to the FreeBuds 4, FreeBuds 5 feature a 200% faster charging rate.

Color options

The new earbuds are offered in three different colors. These are Coral Orange, Ceramic White, and Silver Frost colors. In addition to this, the case of the FreeBuds 5 is also changed. Now it resembles the Pixel Buds case since it is egg-shaped.

Pricing and availability

The FreeBuds 5 will be available for sale in Europe from April 17 onwards. They will cost around €159/£139.99. Users can purchase them from the Huawei Store and selected retailers.
