Huawei is suing some critics in France for bogus claims

Huawei is taking an increasingly forceful position against critics who state it has connections to the Chinese government, as per Bloomberg and French investigation site La Lettre A. The telecom giant has recorded three defamation suits in France against a French researcher, broadcast columnist and wireless network expert, every one of whom made remarks on various TV programs. Huawei has affirmed that the cases were filed back in March.

Huawei said it’s just suing over cases that it is controlled by the Chinese state and that is utilizing its expertise to commit acts of surveillance. “These statements are false,” it added. The claims come at a delicate time, however, as France recently enacted new legislation dubbed the “Huawei Law.” That will permit any organization including Huawei to offer on 5G infrastructure in France, yet will likewise give the government capacity to endorse or dismiss them dependent on national security suggestions.

The US government has been pressuring EU partners to avoid Huawei from building 5G infrastructure.
