Huawei Mate X2 Folding Phone Patent And Design Revealed

Huawei Mate X2 Design

Huawei has launched its folding phone Huawei Mate Xs about 6 months ago which was received well in the market and it’s been long in the rumor mills that Huawei is working on its successor Huawei Mate X2 for some time. The company is now expected to launch this folding device in the second half of this year.

So far, all rumors and we do not get a detailed view of upcoming Huawei Mate X2 but we get something interesting from Let’sGoDigital, the portal has exposed its patent and based on a patent it gives us a design look with some new renders.

Huawei has registered the design patent with state intellectual property office in May this year, the patent was approved for publication today. According to the patent, Huawei adopts an internal folding pattern, while keeping the sidebar just like the predecessor Mate X, which is a designated space for stylus pen.

Another notable thing is that Huawei has relocated the front two cameras from the screen to the sidebar which provides a full-screen view for the users when unfolded.

From the patent diagram we can see, the sidebar next to it can also be used to display information, such as the brush selection and the thickness of the pen in the painting application. The quad-camera module can also be seen at the back of the device. Although Huawei’s new folding screen mobile phone may not adopt such a design, in the end, we can fully understand Huawei’s folding screen design ideas.

However, Huawei would remain close to this design as it has changes that are quite innovative for a folding smartphone. It would be interesting to see more renders and design ideas in the near future.
