Huawei MatePad Pro 11 and 12.6: Creative tablets come with 120 Hz OLED and Snapdragon

Huawei will bring the new edition of the MatePad Pro 11 and 12.6 at IFA 2022. Equipped with an 11 or 12.6-inch OLED display with 120 Hz and low color deviation, pen, and keyboard, they are aimed at creatives. Equipped with Huawei Sound, 6 or 8 speakers are used.

Color accurate 120Hz OLED display

The resolution of the OLED screen is 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz, brightness up to 600 cd/m², 10-bit color depth, and should cover 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Huawei specifies the maximum color deviation as less than 1 dE so that it is not visible to the human eye. The screen-to-body ratio is 92 percent for the 11-inch model.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 acts as a system-on-a-chip. The internal memory is 128 GB and the main memory is 8 GB. WLAN is supported according to Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth version 5.1. GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, and QZSS are supported as location services.

The MatePad Pro 12.6 (2021) (test) still uses a 60 Hz OLED display and a HiSilicon Kirin 9000E instead of the Snapdragon. Only the MatePad 11 (2021) already had an OLED display with 120 Hz and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The internal changes in the larger model are therefore more extensive. Huawei MatePad Pro

Thinnest and lightest 11-inch tablet with Harmony OS 3.0

With a thickness of 5.9 mm and a weight of 449 grams, the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 is also the thinnest and lightest 11-inch tablet on the market. Huawei uses a magnesium alloy for the housing. The 2022 generation of the MatePad Pro is also the first model to ship with Harmony OS 3.0.

With the new version of the operating system, Huawei has revised the interface and the user can, among other things, create his own widget combinations. The multi-window function allows up to four windows to be displayed on the display at the same time to enhance multitasking.

Large batteries and 6 to 8 speakers

The battery of the MatePad Pro 11 has a capacity of 8,300 mAh, while the MatePad Pro 12.6 has a capacity of 10,050 mAh. Both models can be charged with up to 40 watts via USB-C. Wireless charging is possible with a maximum of 27 watts.

Apart from the size of the display, both models also differ in the number of speakers. The 11-inch model uses six speakers, the larger model even has eight. As with the predecessor, a dual camera with 13 and 8-megapixel sensors is available for photos. The front camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels.

Notes and Annotations with the M-Pencil

In addition to touch input, the tablet again supports the Huawei M-Pencil, which has been provided with a new surface in the second generation. Huawei’s Notes app for notes on the MatePad Pro is new.

It provides editing functions through editing and text composition tools and allows the user to choose from a variety of digital paper stocks and brushes. If you want to write longer texts, you can dock the Smart Magnetic Keyboard to use the tablet as a notebook replacement.
