Huawei P50 Pro Large Lens Design Renders Exposed

Although it has been dragged down by the supply chain, it is reported that Huawei will still hold the Hongmeng 2.0 operating system and P50 series of smartphones as soon as possible in the first half of 2021. Prior to this, competitors such as Samsung Galaxy S21, OPPO Find X3, OnePlus 9 and Xiaomi 11 have been listed one after another. However, the latest rumours claim that the Huawei P50 series may arrive on April 27.

Huawei is expected to launch three models: P50, P50 Pro, and P50 Pro Plus, but as in previous years, this series of smartphones will still focus on excellent shooting experience. Before the official release, the Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital has teamed up with concept designer Jermaine Smit (aka Concept Creator) to create a series of renderings of the Huawei P50 Pro model.

Interestingly, on March 29, 2021, Huawei filed a P50 to P90 trademark application at the Philippine Intellectual Property Office (IPOPHL), and the same application has also been included in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) database.

Although no more details have been obtained, the concept designer still showed the huge rear camera on the back of the P50 Pro, and the device is likely to be the first to use the 1-inch outsole Soumi IMX800 sensor (the previous generation IMX700 sensor is 1/1.33 inches).

The larger lens size helps to better capture high-quality images in scenes that require high ISO settings in low-light environments. Considering that Sony is likely to launch the IMX 800 in April, this also coincides with the release date of the Huawei P50 series.

It is expected that the P50 Pro will use a wide-angle + ultra-wide-angle + periscope zoom lens for the rear three-camera, and it is likely to change from last year’s front dual-camera to a centred front single-camera solution. Moreover, the Huawei P50 Pro in the rendering has a more rounded and delicate curved surface, or a 6.6-inch @ QHD+ resolution (2640×1200) 120Hz high-brush OLED screen, supplemented by a combination of under-screen fingerprint sensors.

The device also has a high-quality metal frame and a glass backplate, and the camera assembly still slightly protrudes from the body, but the Leica blessed lens that has been working together for many years should not be absent. It is also reported that Huawei P50 Pro 5G may be equipped with infrared transmitters/dual speakers on the top and emphasizes the gaming performance of the Kirin 9000 chipset. However, the entry-level model in this series is likely to use the inferior Kirin 9000E chipset to ease the limited Kirin 9000 chip.
