Huawei To Launch New FreeBuds Studio Headphone With Mate 40 Pro

The Chinese manufacturer Huawei wants to present not only it’s new and for the time being probably the last absolute high-end smartphone Huawei Mate 40 Pro in about a week. At the same time, the Huawei FreeBuds Studio is also introducing its first high-end wireless headphones.

The new Huawei FreeBuds Studio is the manufacturer’s first over-ear headphones that are trying to expand the product range in view of the massive restrictions imposed by the US sanctions. You don’t want to hide from competitors like Bose and Sony and set the price at their level right from the start at just under 400 euros, as reported by @rquandt on Twitter.

Technically, the Huawei FreeBuds Studio should therefore also offer a lot. The headphones have a dynamic driver with a diameter of 40 millimeters and should be able to deliver very decent sound thanks to a Huawei Kirin A1 audio processor. To what extent they can compete with the products of the established providers in this regard remains to be seen.

Active noise cancellation and up to 20 hours of running time

Huawei is equipping the new FreeBuds Studio with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), among other things, which is said to be able to reduce ambient noise by up to 40 decibels. Of course, this functionality can also be deactivated if desired, for which Huawei also integrates a corresponding hardware button on the housing of the FreeBuds Studio. The headphones from Huawei have two 410mAh batteries and should therefore last up to 20 hours when playing music. Phone calls can take up to 15 hours, although the manufacturer does not provide any information about how much the battery life drops when using active noise suppression. The power supply is effected via the USB Type-C port. Huawei specifies the charging time as 70 minutes, with enough energy to be recharged after 10 minutes to use the FreeBuds Studio for five hours.

In connection with smartphones that use Huawei’s in-house EMUI 10.x, quick pairing, and the display of the charge status on the phone are supported. The connection to the respective smartphone is established via Bluetooth 5.2, whereby older Bluetooth versions are also supported. The new Huawei FreeBuds Studio weighs 265 grams and will soon be available in the colors Blush Gold and Graphite Black.
