Hulu Price Increase Comes after Netflix Price Hike
Hulu has announced the price hike in its live streaming services however, it the streaming service cuts the prices of its regular plans. A move comes right after Netflix’s decision to increase its overall prices.
Last week, Netflix announced price hike of its streaming services, Hulu in the wake of Netflix’s price hike has come up with another pricing strategy which will focus on increasing the prices of live streaming service while reducing the prices for its regular plans. This strategy may create more opportunities for Hulu to grab the market.
According to recent research, 27% of US Netflix subscribers believe that they might leave the platform if Netflix raises its prices.
Hulu has announced today that the company is reducing the price of $7.99 per month to $5.99 per month. However, Netflix has increased the price of its most popular plan from $10.99 to $12.99 per month and its one device plan has jumped to $8.99 and four-device plan is to $15.99 per month.
Hulu has not changed the price of its ad-free streaming service which remains at $11.99 per month. However, Hulu is the Live TV service by $5 which is going up from $39.99 to $44.99 per month, and ad-free Live TV service is going up by $7 from $43.99 to $50.99.
Hulu believes that its pricing is competitive as the company has premium streaming services including 60 live channels on-demand library of more than 85,000 TV episodes and original content including Marvel’s Runaways, Future Man, Handmaid’s Tale and Castle Rock.Hulu’s new pricing will take effect from February 26, 2019; the existing customer might see changes in their billing after February 26.
