iCloud For Windows 10 Update Adds Passwords App

In addition to Chrome integration, Apple is now offering the iCloud password manager natively within its Windows 10 app. Passwords can thus be called up, managed, and synchronized across iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Co. independently of the browser.

A new iCloud update for Windows 10 is available from the Microsoft Store. Version 12.5 installs the new iCloud passwords app in addition to the familiar functions for synchronizing photos, emails, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and iCloud Drive. It gives Apple users access to all passwords stored in iCloud, including the ability to edit them and add new accounts.

Windows Hello backup, edge integration and synchronization

At the beginning of the year, Apple offered this option under Windows 10 exclusively for users of the Google Chrome browser. The update to iCloud 12.5, on the other hand, ensures a long-awaited native integration into the Redmond-based operating system. The iCloud passwords are also saved using the Windows Hello function. With the appropriate settings, access takes place via password, PIN, or biometric identification.

In addition to the iCloud app, it is now also possible to link corresponding passwords to the Chromium-based Edge browser using a new extension. Alternatives such as Firefox, and Opera, however, are not yet supported. Newly added or changed passwords are synchronized directly with the iCloud and all connected devices (e.g. iPhones, iPads, and Macs ). However, an Apple device with activated two-factor authentication is still required for setup.
