iFixit Offers Official Replacement Parts

iFixit is expanding its offering to include official Xbox replacement parts. In collaboration with Microsoft, Xbox Series X and S owners can now repair their consoles themselves. An important step for a longer service life and less electronic waste.

The repair platform iFixit now offers official replacement parts for the Xbox Series X and Series S. In collaboration with Microsoft, the company not only provides original components, but also detailed repair instructions and suitable tool kits. This development marks another step towards longer lifespan for gaming consoles and actively supports the “Right to Repair” movement.

Expanded repair ecosystem

The cooperation between iFixit and Microsoft is not new. Sales of spare parts for Microsoft Surface devices began as early as 2023. The expansion to Xbox components is a logical continuation of this collaboration. “Since we launched our Surface parts collaboration with Microsoft last year, we’ve been helping our customers repair their own Microsoft laptops and tablets – and it’s great to now be able to offer Xbox owners the same opportunity,” said Chamberlain.

Microsoft isn’t the only gaming giant partnering with iFixit. The platform already offers almost every replacement part for Valve’s Steam Deck. Microsoft also sells components for its standard and Elite Series 2 Xbox controllers.

Availability in Germany

Good news for German Xbox users: The first spare parts for Xbox Series X|S are already over iFixit in Germany available. This underlines the desire to make the self-repair option available to as many users worldwide as possible. As The Verge reported, interested users can access the entire range of Xbox parts and instructions via the Microsoft Repair Hub from iFixit. The collaboration between iFixit and Microsoft is part of a larger trend in the technology industry.

In recent years, more and more manufacturers have opened up to the “Right to Repair,” partly due to regulatory pressure. This movement aims to give consumers more control over their devices while reducing electronic waste.
