There are new security updates for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. The updates are recommended to all users as it fixes several vulnerabilities, some of which are classified as high risk. The updates are already available in the WinFuture download area.
The new version numbers are 96.0.4664.93 for Google Chrome and 96.0.1054.53 for Microsoft Edge. According to the release notes, Google closed 22 security holes, and the update has been in distribution since the beginning of the week. In the Google Chrome blog, you can find some information about the update. However, there are no details as to whether these vulnerabilities are already being actively exploited.
Microsoft has now also submitted a security update for Edge based on Chromium and provided the fix for the Chromium vulnerabilities.
There are also a few fixes for Edge-specific security vulnerabilities. Microsoft has also published release notes for the new Edge update. It says: “Microsoft has released the latest Microsoft Edge Stable Channel (version 96.0.1054.53), which includes the latest security updates from the Chromium project. For more information, see the Security Update Guide. This update contains the following Microsoft Edge specific updates:”
In the Microsoft Update Guide, too, you can hardly find any further information on the individual security gaps. The updates are available for all users via the auto-update function or for download (for example in the WinFuture download area):
